"I’m going to give birth to a black woman."
This is part of the powerful statement Rihanna made in an interview with Essence during the fifth yearly Diamond Ball in New York. In the course of the red carpet interview, the singer went on to elaborate that she is interested in becoming a loving mother who continues a powerful heritage:
"I’m a black woman. I came from a black woman, who came from a black woman, who came from a black woman and I’m going to give birth to a black woman. It's a no-brainer. That's who I am. It's the core of who I am in spirit and DNA."
Regarding her own history and upbringing, the singer went on to describe how her mother has always served her as a role model and is a big part of the source of her own strength.
"My mother is an incredible example of how to fight through obstacles in life. I’m sure her mom taught her that and that’s how I’m going to be. We are impeccable, we’re special, and the world is going to have to deal with that."
Rihanna is indeed, impeccable. Her singing and acting career is thriving and she is the CEO of her own makeup and clothing line. She said that she is "really happy" with her current life and she has every reason to be.
We for one, are thrilled to hear that she is looking to pass on and share that power by becoming a parent and can't wait to see her embark on the journey of motherhood.
But no, she's not pregnant (yet).
