Love Pre-Loved!

When I was 18 I got my first job working at the mall at one of my favorite stores, at the time it was not as popular as it is now. I started making money and was able to buy all the cloth I wanted and I became a shopaholic always buying clothes especially disposal fashion because it was so cheap. I have so much cloth and I have been guilty of just throwing what had a tiny stain or hole away. Then when I got married I watched the documentary “The True Cost” and it opened my eyes to the waste that I was contributing to with my shopping and even donating. So I basically stopped shopping in the stores geared towards fast fashion or disposal fashion. I fell in love with thrifting and love getting good quality cloth that has been pre loved at bargain prices.

When it comes to my children I barley shop for them in part because I’m very lucky that their grandparents and aunt and uncles spoil them and buy them cloth all the time. I only spend money on clothing for them if it’s something they really need like a good winter jacket. And even that I usually find a good quality one that is pre-loved. Children outgrow their clothing so fast and for me personally, I don’t like overspending on their clothing if I really don’t have to.

Which brings me to my next point, ever wonder what to do with your child’s outgrown clothes? If you have multiple kids like me then you probably have a lot of clothing! And I use to donate it but then I found out about the kidizen app, which is like Poshmark but for children’s clothing, where you can sell your child’s outgrown clothing plus books and toys. It’s awesome! I love the idea of selling your child’s pre-loved clothing, because it can be another mom’s treasure. And I love that in a small way it’s preventing clothing from ending up in landfills and helping the environment. Plus a little extra change in your pocket never hurts. ;)

If you are interested in checking the Kidizen app out use referral code mki6q and you’ll get $5 off your first purchase! And trust me some moms have amazing closets with brands like Mini Melissa, Hanna Anderson and Janie and Jack for bargain prizes. I absolutely love it and I'm sure you will too!

Wendy L

Hello! My name is Wendy, I’m happily married, 5 years now, my husband and I have 3 kids under the age of 3. We love to spend time together especially on Sundays. We consider Sunday, family day. I have a B.A in Economics and also studied Early Childhood Education. I hope to share experiences, tips and other things that I have found helpful in my journey through motherhood. Some of my hobbies include reading, watching t.v, and garaging or thrifting. I love a good bargain! I also love trying DIY projects. I will admit I will start a project and then procrastinate to finish because there is always something else to do #momlife.
