Reading Moms Monday

Hi! Welcome to my first monthly post for Reading Moms Monday! On the second Monday of the month I will be sharing a book I've recently read that I've absolutely LOVED in hopes that maybe you can find a book to enjoy as well.

This month I am going to be discussing The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab.

Addison LaRue lives in late 17th century France, and as with all proper young women of that era, she is expected to marry and have a respectable life. But Addie wants more than what her small village has to offer, and she is willing to do anything to live a bigger life than what is currently in store for her. Through Estele, an old woman in her village, Addie learns how to pray to the old gods, with the warning to "never pray to the gods who answer after dark." Unfortunately for Addie the sun is setting as she makes her final desperate plea, and Addie learns that while her prayers may be answered, it may not be in the a way she had ever imagined.

The story of Addie LaRue spans decades with her influence over art, music, and ideas unknown to anyone but herself and Luc, her ever-present god. Until Henry. I don't want to spoil the end for you, so I won't go into too much detail about Henry, but he changes Addie's life in a way she had lost hope of having. This story is a romance, though not in the way you may think, and there are definitely some surprises in there (this book is absolutely LGBQTIA+ friendly!). The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is a page turner, and I couldn't put it down! I hope you check it out, and if you enjoy, make sure you come back to check out my recommendation next month!
